Knights of Columbus
Father Lucien Galtier Council 4184
West Saint Paul, Minnesota
The Knights of Columbus was founded by Father Michael J.
McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut in the basement of St.
Mary's Catholic Church in 1882. Today the Knights of Columbus
is the world's largest family fraternal service originations
with 1.6 million members. The main reason the Knights of
Columbus are different from other men's groups is that it
is primarily spiritual, which provides the underpinning that
supports the attributes of charity, unity, fraternity, and
patriotism.
The Father Lucien Galtier Council No. 4184 named after the
first parish priest in Minnesota and was chartered by the
Supreme Council on February 26, 1956. It serves the parishes
of St. Michael and St Joseph in West St. Paul and Mendota
Heights, and St. Matthew's, Holy Family, and Our Lady of
Guadalupe on St. Paul's West Side.
